Pencil

Pencils can be used across all forms of illustration, whether it's laying down the foundation of a piece or being the main part of it with the majority of the piece being in pencil, this drawing practice in illustration is always a must. It strengthens hand-eye coordination and ranges wide in versatility because of the variety of marks and lines it can produce.

Those same marks can capture movement and can assist with defining shapes with its ability to reach certain tones when shading.
